#myhealthyplate - Green Falafel Bowl

ALRIGHT! Challenge has started and here is my first #myhealthyplate, based off Canada's 2019 Food Guide!

 

 

Ingredients

  • 1/2 a cup of mixed greens

  • 5 sweet peas

  • 1/4 cup of cut cucumber

  • 1 cup of steamed broccoli

  • 1/2 cup of brown rice

  • 1/4 of an avocado

  • 1 TBSP hummus

  • Baked Falafel Balls (I use Yves)

  • Sprinkled Hemp Hearts

Method:

  1. I usually start to build a bowl like this by placing my mixed greens down first. This is a good base to start with and ensures you get some greens in your meal

  2. I then build my bowl from here by adding all the vegetables first - so the broccoli, peas, and cucumber

  3. Add the avocado, brown rice and falafel

  4. Scoop the hummus into the middle of your bowl

  5. Sprinkle with your hemp hearts

  6. Add hot peppers, green onions, or miso gravy to add flavours to your meal

  7. ENJOY!

 

Breakdown:

 

VEGETABLES

  • Mixed greens

  • Sweet peas

  • cucumber

FRUIT

  • Avocado - Also doubles as your healthy fat

WHOLE GRAINS

  • Brown Rice

 

PLANT PROTEIN

  • Hummus

  • Falafel Balls

  • Hemp Hearts

 

OTHER PROTEIN SOURCES

  • Switch out the plant protein for a palm sized piece of baked fish or chicken
